WILDERNESS HUT RENTALS:  SIX LOCATIONS IN THE SAWTOOTH, SMOKY AND PIONEER MOUNTAINS NEAR SUN VALLEY, IDAHO

Sun Valley Trekking operates 6 different backcountry huts in the wild mountains of Central Idaho.  Rated one of the top hut-to-hut ski operations in North America, these huts and yurts are ideally located in stunning mountain locations surrounded by pristine snow and phenomenal backcountry ski terrain.  Each hut is a little different, some are Mongolian-styled round yurts and some are western-styled wall tents.  All of the huts are cozy structures outfitted with wood stoves for heat (including plentiful cut firewood), propane stoves for cooking, fully outfitted kitchens and table-ware, lanterns for light, bunks with comfortable mattresses, books, games, magazines, outhouses and beautiful wood fired saunas or hot-tubs!  You only pack in your food and sleeping bag, everything else is provided at the hut.

SELF-GUIDED:

Sun Valley Trekking's six backcountry huts and yurts are available for rent every night, all winter for backcountry skiers, telemarkers, snowboarders and snowshoers who want a do-it-yourself backcountry experience.   This means there will be no hut keeper or guide and you are responsible for all aspects of your hut trip including planning, safety and hut upkeep.

Costs for all our huts and yurts: $35.00 per person/night, with a minimum of $175/night Sun-Thurs. nights. $350.00 for Private Rental. Private Rentals only Friday and Saturday nights and holidays. Reservation is secured with a nonrefundable $150.00 deposit. Balance is due one month prior to trip departure. Please visit our availability page to see what nights are available.

Folks visiting any hut or yurt for the first time are required to hire a guide for day one of their trip to lead them to the hut and apprise them of the use of the facility. Cost for the guide is $160, except for Boulder, which is $100. We also offer a pre-packaged Food Service, a-la-carte Guide Services and Porter Services, please contact us for details.   

GUIDED:

Join our professional ski guides to make your hut skiing adventure care free and truly world class.  Package tours are available to all hut destinations and costs include food, hut fees and guiding.  Your guides know the terrain, the snow and how to maximize your fun while visiting the huts. A NOTE ON DOGS:

While all of us at Sun Valley Trekking love dogs, we are compelled to maintain a winter-time NO DOGS AT HUTS policy. Bottom line is that their habits can create a very unsanitary situation around the huts, since the source for drinking water is snow.

We have one hut up in the summer, the Coyote Yurt.  We do allow people to bring dogs there in the summer only, because water-collection is not an issue during that season.

CANCELING/RESCHEDULING POLICY:

Like a deep Winter snowpack, life can become unsettled. At the trailhead, put your avalanche beacon on. For the months prior to getting to the trailhead, we suggest using Travel Guard to insure your trip. Please understand we are a small business with a limited season for operating, therefore cancellations affect us greatly and we must adhere to our cancellation policy.
